Sandy's Dance Biography
"I started my dance training at the very early age of two years old at a small local dance school. When I was 14 and following my success at various dance exams with the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D) I was lucky enough to be offered a place at the Leicestershire County School of Dance. It was at this time that I was also employed by the Co-op Society to run my own dance school. I later attended the Sissie Smith School of Dance in Nottingham, successfully passed all my exams and went on to complete further exams needed to teach student ballet.
In between all the exams and classes, I also appeared in many musical theatre productions as a cast member of the Leicester Haymarket Theatre including: Cinderella, Jack & the Beanstalk, Oliver and Mother Goose. As part of the Oliver cast, I featured on the 'Leicestershire Children's Choir' LP recording of the full Oliver production.
By 19 years old, I was ready for a full time dance / teachers course. I was offered a place at the Stella Mann College in London where I attended for three years on a professional Dance Teachers Course. It was at Stella Mann that I finished all my training, passed all R.A.D exams up to Advanced level and passed the exams in Imperial Society of Dance (I.S.T.D) in Ballet, Modern, National and Tap. I also completed my Teaching Diploma at this time. I left college with the full qualifications needed to secure a dancing contract with the High Society Ballet in Spain where I danced professionally for six months, and only returned to record my own CD and Square Studios in Nottingham
